Heavy to very heavy rainfall lashed several districts of Odisha in the past 24 hours, with Mayurbhanj recording the highest showers, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Bahalda in Mayurbhanj received a staggering 273.0 mm of rain, the highest in the state. Rairangpur followed with 180.0 mm, while Jharbandh in Bargarh recorded 150.0 mm. Other significant rainfall figures included Jamda (124.0 mm), Bangiriposhi (112.4 mm), Balisankara (115.0 mm), and Tensa (112.8 mm).
Several other areas in Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh also reported rainfall above 100 mm, while districts such as Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda witnessed heavy showers ranging between 67 mm and 88 mm.
Authorities have been asked to remain vigilant, particularly in Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Bargarh, where continuous rains have raised concerns of flooding. The IMD has advised residents to stay cautious and follow district administration instructions as more rainfall is expected in the coming days.
