Odisha Vigilance arrested Assistant Civil Supplies Officer (ACSO) Dhumaram Murmu of Champua, Keonjhar, for taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a local LAMPCS incharge in connection with paddy procurement.
Murmu demanded the bribe at his office to clear procurement-related files under the current Kharif Marketing Season (KMS). Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught him while accepting the money. They seized the entire bribe amount from his possession.
Investigators said Murmu had been demanding bribes from other paddy procurement centres as well. Following the arrest, Vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches at his office and residence to trace disproportionate assets.
The operation led to registration of Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 08/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to uncover further links and financial irregularities.
