Tragedy struck during a family vacation in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, when Odisha resident Prashant Satpathy fell victim to a brutal terrorist attack.
While alighting from a ropeway with his wife Priyadarshini and their 9-year-old son, Prashant sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head during the chaotic assault.
Reports indicate that the delay in rescue operations, with Army personnel taking over an hour to arrive at the scene, exacerbated the tragedy. Priyadarshini recounted her husband remaining conscious for some time before succumbing to his injuries. This attack, which claimed 26 lives, has left Odisha in mourning and angered citizens nationwide.
Prashant’s body will be flown back from Delhi and arrive in Bhubaneswar tonight at approximately 9:45 PM. His grieving family is set to receive the body at the airport to bid their final farewell. The incident has brought renewed attention to the issue of tourist safety in sensitive regions.
