In a significant move towards technological advancement, Odisha is set to launch its first semiconductor production unit by December 2025.
The unit, established in collaboration with R&D Company, will occupy a 2,000-square-foot facility in Info Valley. This landmark development was announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling in response to MLA Amarendra Das’s query during the assembly session.
The state government aims to position Odisha as a major hub for IT and semiconductor industries under the “Make in Odisha” initiative. A total of 30 IT projects are in the pipeline, expected to create employment for approximately 34,321 individuals.
Additionally, plans are underway to establish data centres in Koraput and Keonjhar, catering to the growing demand for IT infrastructure. Puri is also set to welcome a cable landing station.
The announcements underscore the Odisha government’s commitment to boosting employment opportunities and accelerating economic growth through technology and innovation.
