Six meritorious students from Odisha have been selected to participate in the internationally acclaimed SAKURA Science High School Programme (SSHP) in Japan.

Scheduled from August 16 to 23, 2025, the programme is an initiative of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) aimed at nurturing global scientific talent.

The selected students are:

  • Sai Soham Pradhan – Iconic OAV, Andharua, Khordha
  • Sreyashree Panigrahi – BJB Higher Secondary School, Bhubaneswar
  • Samikhya Rani Mali – Govt. SSD Higher Secondary School, Karchamal, Nabarangpur
  • Chandra Sekhar Behera – Khallikote Higher Secondary School, Berhampur, Ganjam
  • Sipra Satapathy – Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School, Cuttack
  • Punya Pulokita Pati – OAV, Tarando, Kendrapara

They will be accompanied by Niharika Sahu, guide teacher from BJB Higher Secondary School, Bhubaneswar. The team departed from Bhubaneswar on August 14, boarding the Rajdhani Super-Fast Express.

The SSHP offers students a rare opportunity to engage in academic exchanges, visit top-tier Japanese universities and research institutions, and experience cultural immersion. It aims to foster mutual understanding and inspire future scientific collaboration between Japan and participating nations.

This selection not only highlights the academic excellence of Odisha’s youth but also strengthens India-Japan educational ties.
