Odisha has received a significant boost in the Union Railway Budget with an allocation of Rs 10,928 crore, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced during a press meet.
The minister highlighted that the East-West Corridor will bring major benefits to Odisha. The corridor will pass through Odisha and connect Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. This strategic route will play a crucial role in driving industrial growth in Odisha by improving connectivity and logistics.
Vaishnaw noted that Odisha has witnessed remarkable railway expansion over the past 11 years. The state added 2,200 kilometres of new tracks, a figure that surpasses the total railway track length in Malaysia. This achievement underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening Odisha’s infrastructure.
The East-West Corridor is expected to transform Odisha’s industrial landscape. Enhanced connectivity will attract investments, facilitate faster movement of goods, and support the state’s economic development. The minister emphasised that Odisha’s industries stand to gain immensely from this corridor, positioning the state as a key hub in India’s railway network.
