The Odisha government has announced that the housing construction assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) and Antyodaya Gruha Yojana will be standardized at Rs 1.2 lakh across all districts starting from the 2024–25 financial year.
This move aims to streamline support for economically weaker sections in rural areas.
Previously, beneficiaries in Integrated Action Plan (IAP) districts received Rs 1.3 lakh, while those in non-IAP districts were allotted Rs 1.2 lakh. The new policy eliminates this disparity, ensuring equal aid statewide.
In addition to the base amount, beneficiaries are entitled to daily wages under MGNREGA—up to 95 days in IAP districts and 90 days in non-IAP districts. The government also offers incentives of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 for completing house construction within four and six months, respectively. Support for toilet construction is also included in the scheme.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik confirmed in the State Assembly that there is no current proposal to increase the aid amount, emphasizing the government’s focus on timely delivery and equitable support.
This initiative reflects Odisha’s continued commitment to rural development and inclusive housing access.
