Odisha State Transport Authority launched a special enforcement drive against illegal driver partition doors in sleeper buses, following the directive of Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena.
The campaign aimed to reduce road accidents and enhance passenger safety across the state.
During the seven‑day operation, enforcement teams inspected 3,304 buses and issued 389 e‑challans for violations. Cuttack RTO led the drive with 287 bus checks, followed by Jajpur (241), Ganjam (191), Rourkela (170), Sambalpur and Deogarh (168 each), and Chandikhole (147).
Officials confirmed that 60 vehicles in Cuttack faced penalties for non‑compliance, while Nayagarh recorded 36 challans. Bhubaneswar‑II and Ganjam RTOs issued 25 each, Jajpur 18, and Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj 15 each.
