Kandhamal Police carried out a successful operation in the Balliguda region after receiving credible intelligence, recovering a cache of weapons and explosives from a hidden Maoist dump.

Acting on credible intelligence, Kandhamal Police carried out a strategic operation in the Balliguda region and recovered articles from a hidden Maoist dump, which gave another blow to extremist activities.

Officials said the recovery marks another significant blow to extremist activities in the district.
The seized items included one SLR rifle, two SBGL guns, one country‑made UBGL gun, thirty electric detonators, one bundle of codex wire, ten SBGL grenades, one SLR magazine, sixteen rounds of SLR ammunition, and other camp articles.
Police confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to neutralise Maoist influence in the region.
Security forces emphasised that such recoveries weaken the operational capacity of extremist groups and improve safety for civilians in vulnerable areas. The recovered materials will undergo forensic examination, and follow‑up combing operations are continuing in nearby forest zones.
