The Women and Child Development Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Utkalika, Odisha State Cooperative Handicrafts Corporation, to supply gift items under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida at the departmental conference hall. Through this agreement, Utkalika will provide eligible brides with gift items, including sarees, bangles, anklets, toe rings, alta, sindoor, and other traditional adornments, along with household essentials such as utensils and cushions.

Deputy CM Parida highlighted that this collaboration will not only ensure the delivery of welfare benefits to every eligible beneficiary but also promote Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft sector. She emphasised that the scheme combines social welfare with cultural promotion.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials, including Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, Director Monisha Banerjee, Handloom and Handicrafts Director Nibedita Prusty, Additional Secretary Pratap Hota, and other departmental officers. The MoU was formally signed between Additional Secretary Sumitra Pattnayak of the Women & Child Development Department and Managing Director Mamata Nayak of Utkalika.
