Odisha has recorded the deaths of 432 migrant workers over the past seven years, Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia informed the Assembly.

The minister stated that between 2019 and 2025, these workers lost their lives while working outside the state. He emphasised that the government has taken steps to support the families of the deceased by ensuring the return of bodies to Odisha and providing financial assistance.

According to the minister, 14 districts received Rs 15 lakh each as compensation, while 16 districts received Rs 5 lakh each to support affected families. The assistance aims to provide relief and recognition to the sacrifices made by migrant workers who contribute significantly to the state’s economy.
