Bhubaneswar witnessed an eventful day today as political tensions escalated outside the Odisha Assembly.

Opposition BJD and Congress MLAs attempted to breach barricades near the gate, leading to a scuffle with police. The chaos unfolded as BJD legislators were en route to stage a protest at a statue of BR Ambedkar, while Congress MLAs, accompanied by party workers, sought entry into the Assembly premises. Only two Congress MLAs were allowed to enter, with 12 suspended legislators being stopped.

Inside the Assembly, BJD members staged a walkout, demanding statements on the suspension of Congress MLAs and allegations of assault by security personnel. Meanwhile, the suspended Congress MLAs staged an overnight protest, sleeping on the street to highlight their grievances.

The unfolding drama has left the political landscape in Odisha charged, with opposing parties voicing their concerns over the treatment of legislators.
