Odisha Police have launched a new investigation into the death of Lalit Sahu, the cook of former Health Minister Naba Kishore Das. This decision follows a directive from Director General of Police Y B Khurania.
Inspector General of Police (Northern Range) Himanshu Lal informed reporters that a special team has been established to carry out a re-investigation. Lal, along with Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit P, stated that this re-investigation has begun with the appointment of a new investigating officer and a supervising officer.
Previously, the investigation was handled by an SI and a DSP.
Lalit’s family had lodged a written complaint, demanding an impartial investigation. Lalit’s father, Belalsen Sahu, emphasized the need for a proper investigation to reveal the truth.
Lalit Sahu was found hanging in the minister’s official residence on April 17, 2022. His father mentioned that Lalit had been under mental stress for 7-8 days before his death and had refused to return to their village.
After 34 months, Lalit’s father renewed his demand for an impartial investigation into the mysterious death.
