Odisha Police celebrated its 91st Foundation Day in Cuttack with a ceremonial parade and awards presentation.
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania attended the event as the chief guest at Reserve Police Ground, Buxibazar. He saluted the parade, honoured officers and personnel for outstanding service, and paid tribute to martyred policemen. He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to building a safe, peaceful, and drug-free Odisha under the motto “Service and Security.”
The DGP highlighted Odisha Police’s achievements in combating Maoist insurgency, noting that 27 extremists were neutralised since 2025 and 72 returned to the mainstream. He credited the government’s surrender and rehabilitation scheme for this success.
He also emphasised the fight against cybercrime, citing “Operation Cyber Kabach,” which investigated 39,714 suspicious bank accounts, registered 1,422 new cases, and arrested 379 accused. On the anti-narcotics front, police seized contraband worth over ₹3,000 crore, destroyed illegal cultivation across 48,160 acres, and arrested 654 interstate traffickers.
Khurania praised swift investigations under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing cases resolved within 19 to 40 days, ensuring speedy justice. He also lauded Odisha Police athletes for winning medals at national competitions and setting new records.
The ceremony included awards for bravery, merit scholarships, and recognition of top battalions, family welfare centres, and parade teams. The Governor and Chief Minister conveyed greetings through messages read at the event.
The 91st Foundation Day underscored Odisha Police’s legacy of service, resilience, and modernisation, while honouring its personnel for dedication and excellence.
