In a determined effort to curb illegal arms trafficking, lethal weapons proliferation, and criminal activities, the Odisha Police has intensified its statewide operations with rigorous measures.

As part of the recently launched “Operation Dharpagad”, multiple district police units participated in coordinated drives over the past few days, resulting in significant seizures of illegal arms and ammunition.

According to a press note released by the State Police Headquarters, 27 cases have been registered so far against illegal gun runners across the state. Police have seized 36 firearms, 71 live bullets, and 62 other lethal weapons. In connection with these cases, 27 criminals involved have been arrested.

Simultaneously, strict action was taken against drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Police registered 519 cases for drunk driving and impounded 211 vehicles.

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has issued clear directives to identify and arrest notorious criminals, halt illegal arms smuggling, suppress deadly weapons, and take tough measures against anti-social elements.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shri Sanjay Kumar, with Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all districts actively involved in “Operation Dharpagad”.

The Odisha Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety through continued proactive enforcement.
