In a proud moment for Odisha’s security forces, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania and Additional Director General (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda today presented a letter of appreciation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The letter lauds the Odisha Police’s remarkable success in operations against Maoists, recognising their pivotal role in restoring peace and advancing the national mission of a Naxal-free India.
The formal presentation took place at the Chief Minister’s Office in Bhubaneswar. Senior police officers and state officials witnessed the event, which underscored the strong coordination between the Centre and the state in tackling Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).
The Chief Minister lauded the courage and sacrifice of officers and personnel, emphasizing that their relentless commitment has safeguarded citizens across the state. He reaffirmed the government’s pledge to maintain a Zero Tolerance policy against extremism, ensuring that every citizen feels secure.
Majhi noted that the commendation from the Union Home Minister reflects the nation’s acknowledgment of Odisha Police’s dedication. He assured that the government will continue to support the force with resources and coordination to sustain the momentum against extremist threats.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly highlighted the goal of eradicating Naxalism by the March 31, 2026 deadline. Odisha’s progress has been cited as a shining example of effective counter-insurgency combined with rehabilitation and development initiatives.
This national recognition is expected to further boost the confidence of security personnel and encourage more Maoist cadres to lay down arms and return to the mainstream. The state government has also enhanced risk allowances and rehabilitation packages for forces engaged in anti-Naxal duties.
As Odisha celebrates this honour, the message is clear: sustained courage, smart strategy, and Centre-state synergy can turn the tide against even the most entrenched threats.
