Cuttack witnessed a momentous occasion as Odisha Police celebrated its 90th Foundation Day with a grand ceremony at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazaar.
The event, graced by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania as the chief guest, honoured the department’s unwavering commitment to its core motto—Service and Security.
The celebration commenced with DGP Khurania paying homage to fallen police personnel, acknowledging their supreme sacrifices for maintaining law and order. He emphasized the department’s continued efforts to safeguard vulnerable sections of society, including women and children, and reiterated the pledge of the police force to uphold justice.
Distinguished officers and personnel were felicitated for their exemplary services. The occasion also saw the announcement of various initiatives, including intensified action against drug trafficking, illegal sand mining, and cybercrime. Additionally, upcoming events like the All India Police Hockey Championship, scheduled to take place at Kalinga Stadium from April 7-15, were highlighted as a testament to the force’s sporting spirit and teamwork.
Reflecting on its nine-decade journey since the formation of Odisha Police in 1936, DGP Khurania lauded the force’s steadfast resilience in tackling challenges such as extremist activities and criminal offenses. With renewed vigour, Odisha Police continues its mission to create a safer and more secure state for all.
