The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has unveiled two groundbreaking reforms to streamline the claim settlement process for its millions of members and simplify operations for employers.
The first reform eliminates the need to upload images of cheque leaves or attested bank passbooks during online claim submissions. This change, extending the benefits seen during a successful pilot phase, promises to cut down claim rejections caused by unclear or poor-quality images. It will immediately benefit six crore EPF members across India.
The second reform removes the requirement for employer approval in the bank account seeding process with the Universal Account Number (UAN). This measure significantly reduces delays, instantly benefiting over 14.95 lakh members whose bank account approvals were pending with their employers.
These steps are expected to deliver faster, hassle-free claim settlement and improved efficiency in operations, aligning with EPFO’s broader goals of enhancing ease of living and doing business.
