The government selected Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, and Nuapada districts to implement the schemes. These initiatives aim to shift farmers away from paddy dependency and encourage cultivation of pulses, oilseeds, and other profitable crops. Over the next six years, the program will invest ₹24,000 crore annually and benefit 1.7 crore farmers across India.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a ₹100 crore Integrated Aqua Park in Sambalpur’s Basantpur. He also initiated the construction of a ₹60 crore wholesale fish market in Bhubaneswar’s Pandara under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana. Together, these projects will build a robust value chain from production to marketing and create over 2,000 indirect jobs.

Chief Minister Majhi highlighted that agriculture supports more than 60% of Odisha’s population. He underscored the state’s ₹37,838 crore agriculture budget for 2025–26, which includes the Samruddha Krushak Yojana offering ₹3,100 per quintal MSP and input support.

The Self-Reliant Agriculture Mission will help reduce India’s reliance on imported pulses and edible oils. Odisha plans to lead India’s Blue Revolution by expanding aquaculture. The Aqua Park in Hirakud, spread over 95.47 acres, will finish by January 2027 and transform Sambalpur into a centre of excellence.

Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Union Minister Jual Oram praised the initiatives. The state government is committed to full implementation, aiming to position Odisha as a hub for sustainable agriculture and aquaculture.
