In a forward-looking step aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Odisha’s Higher Education Department has announced admissions for the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at participating institutions under the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) for the academic session 2026-27.
This is the first time ITEP has been brought under the centralised SAMS platform, making the process smoother, transparent, and accessible for students across the state.
Applications open tomorrow, 20 June 2026, at 2 PM on the official SAMS portal
Students have until 5 July 2026 (11:45 PM) to submit their Common Application Form (CAF). Editing of the form will remain open till the last date.
Selection will be purely merit-based on the National Common Entrance Test (NCET-2026) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Only candidates with a valid NCET scorecard are eligible to apply.
Who can apply?
- Must have appeared in NCET-2026 and possess a valid scorecard
- Must be a resident of Odisha
- Must have passed Odia as a subject at HSC (Class 10) level or equivalent
The programme follows the NEP-2020 structure of Dual Major + Dual Minor. Education will automatically be the Major-I subject for every student. Applicants will choose their Major-II subject while filling out the CAF.
The two Minor subjects (from school subjects) will be allotted later by the respective institutions through counselling.
Phase-I admission will have three rounds of centralised seat allotment with Freeze & Slide options. The first provisional merit list will be published on 10 July 2026. Reporting and fee payment for the first round will take place between 10 and 15 July.
The second round is scheduled for 21–25 July, followed by a waiting-list/spot admission round in early August. Classes for the first year will commence on 1 August 2026.
Higher Education Department officials have urged all eligible candidates to carefully read the Common Prospectus and Information Brochure available on the SAMS ITEP portal before applying. The complete list of participating Higher Education Institutions is also available on the portal.
