In a stellar validation of its forward-thinking policies and dedication to sustainable development, the State of Odisha has been honoured with the prestigious “Wind India 2026: Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking” award.
The national accolade was presented during the high-profile Windergy India 2026 conference held in Chennai.
The momentum continued in Bhubaneswar today as Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department, officially presented the trophy to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. The ceremonial presentation was witnessed by key energy sector leaders, including Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Chairman and Managing Director of OPTCL, and Dr Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, alongside other senior officials from the Energy Department.
Notably, Dr Satyapriya Rath had earlier accepted the award on behalf of the state directly from the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, amidst an assembly of distinguished industry captains and government dignitaries in Chennai.
Extending his warm congratulations to the officers and staff of the Energy Department, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo emphasised that the honour is a testament to the state’s resolute political will. He noted that the recognition reflects continuous, strategic efforts to accelerate Odisha’s clean energy transition and unlock sustainable investments under the comprehensive Odisha Renewable Energy Policy. He further underscored that the state has lined up ambitious roadmap plans to aggressively scale up its renewable energy footprint.
As part of its strategic outreach at the summit, Odisha also hosted a dedicated high-level state session titled “Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination.” The session was specifically designed to pitch the state’s massive, untapped wind power capabilities to national and international investors, firmly placing Odisha on the global clean energy map.
