Odisha has gained significant recognition for its outstanding performance under the Dharati Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Yojana.

At a national event organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Odisha for being the Best Performing State under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan.

B. Parmeshwaran, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes Development, Minorities, and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, received the award.

While Odisha was honoured as the best-performing state in the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan category, Mayurbhanj district was recognised as the Best Performing District within the same category.

Keonjhar district received a certificate of appreciation as the Best Performing District under the Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan. Additionally, Rakesh Ranjan Biswal, the Additional District Welfare Officer of Koraput, was named the Best State Master Trainer, and Sanjeev Majhi from Kalahandi district was celebrated as the Best Aadi Saathi.

The state has shown remarkable progress by promoting inclusive governance and sustainable development models through active community participation in tribal areas. This initiative is part of the Government of India’s efforts to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan aims to enhance tribal participation in governance and strengthen tribal institutions. As part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, special Gram Sabhas were recently organised across the state, where 5,500 village action plans were approved.

This national recognition highlights the Odisha Government’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in tribal regions through education, livelihood enhancement, women’s empowerment, and digital inclusion.

The success reflects the coordinated efforts of local administrations, various departments, and grassroots functionaries working together to ensure that development reaches even the most remote areas.
