In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Bhadrak, Odisha, a local businessman was shot and robbed near the Ram Mandir in Charampa on Saturday evening, June 21, 2025.
The victim, identified as Bidyadhar Sahu, a well-known grocery trader in the area, was attacked while returning home after closing his shop.
According to eyewitnesses and police reports, two assailants on a motorcycle trailed Sahu before firing two rounds at him, striking him in the waist. The attackers swiftly snatched a bag containing cash and fled the scene. Sahu, critically injured, was rushed to Bhadrak District Hospital for initial treatment. Due to his deteriorating condition, he was later transferred to a medical facility in Cuttack for advanced care.
The Bhadrak Town Police responded promptly, arriving at the crime scene to initiate an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the attack was a targeted robbery, though authorities are exploring all possible motives. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the culprits, and forensic teams are analysing evidence collected from the site.
