The Higher Education Department of the Odisha Government has launched the “Foreign Education Scholarship” scheme. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students will benefit from this and get the opportunity to study in prestigious foreign universities. Students whose family income is less than Rs. 12 lakh per year can apply for this scholarship.

Under this scheme, the state government will provide Rs. 25 lakh per year to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. Students can apply for this scholarship twice a year. Eligible students can apply in the months of July-August and December-January.

Every year, 50 students who are considered eligible to enrol in the world’s top 200 universities will get the scholarship. Out of the 50, 4 will be awarded for postgraduate courses in engineering and technical education and 6 for PhD in the same, 10 for Medical Education, agriculture science, architecture and other technical courses, and 30 for undergraduate and postgraduate education under the Higher Education Department.

In addition, the Odisha State Higher Education Council has also been given autonomy for the Academic Performance Audit of higher educational institutions in the state. As a result, the Odisha State Higher Education Council will be able to properly audit the educational standards of various higher educational institutions in the state.

In a special program today, the Higher Education Department has given compassionate appointments to 34 people. They have been placed in grant-in-aided private colleges. Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj attended a program organised in Bhubaneswar and distributed appointment letters to the aspirants. He also wished them well for starting their working life.

Addressing the candidates who got the appointment letters, he said, “The goal should be to contribute to the overall development of the education sector by performing their work with sincerity and honesty.”

The government of the people, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has given priority to the development of the education sector. Minister Suraj said that the goal of the state government is to build a golden future for the students by providing quality education along with building a world-class education infrastructure. Evidence of this has also been found in the past few days. The implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 in Odisha, PM-USHA Yojana in Higher Education, the implementation of the Odisha Universities (Amendment) Act, providing 11.25% reservation to SEBC category students in higher education, establishing new government graduate colleges in remote districts, skill development of students to provide them with employment opportunities, many other groundbreaking steps have been taken by the government.
