Bhubaneswar: The Health & Family Welfare Department of the Odisha Government on Wednesday issued an advisory to the Collectors of all districts, Commissioners of all municipalities, CDM & PHOs, and Superintendents of all Govt. MCHs for management of post-monsoon cyclone for the year 2022.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Shalini Pandit, IAS, has written to the authorities concerned in this regard.
In the letter, Pandit stated that during the post-monsoon season there is the possibility of a flood or cyclone due to sudden low pressure which warrants possible mass causality, disease outbreak and other emergency situations. It is desired to ensure the following aspects on a priority basis on receipt of cyclone warning if any:
- Sufficient stock of essential medicines for flood-related diseases, water purifying tablets, and anti-snake venom in hospitals at different levels.
- Sufficient stock of bleaching powder, chlorine tablets, lime powders etc will also be ensured.
- Necessary steps need to be taken for shifting pregnant women in vulnerable areas to MAA Gruha. Pregnant women having an expected date of delivery (EDD) within the next 10 days should be shifted to the nearest government hospital having a safe delivery facility.
- Ensure power backup arrangement in all PHCs, CHCs, DHH and other hospitals.
It is, therefore, requested to take the necessary steps and do the needful following COVID- 19 protocols, and guidelines issued from time to time, read the letter.
