Odisha Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati expressed deep concern over the widespread lack of awareness among the public and government officials about central and state government welfare schemes.
Speaking at an event held at Raj Bhavan on Monday, the Governor revealed that 95% of people, including many responsible government officers, are unaware of various public welfare programs.
During district-level review meetings, Governor Kambhampati observed that this lack of awareness prevents people from accessing the benefits of these schemes. “Not only the general public but even highly educated and elite groups remain uninformed about these initiatives,” he cited examples like the Atal Beema Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana. He emphasised that every family member, not just the head of the household, should be informed about these schemes to maximise their reach and impact.
The Governor urged authorities to take proactive steps to bridge this information gap, ensuring that both officials and citizens are well-informed about the schemes designed for their benefit. “Awareness is the first step toward empowerment,” he concluded, calling for a concerted effort to educate the masses.
