A youth sustained critical injuries after allegedly being stabbed by his friend following a dispute in Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The incident occurred on Thursday and has raised fresh concerns over recurring incidents of violent confrontations in the area.
The injured person has been identified as Hadibandhu Pradhan, who reportedly suffered severe abdominal injuries during the attack.
According to reports, Hadibandhu was found in a profusely bleeding condition after the alleged assault. Local residents and emergency responders rushed him to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, for immediate medical attention.
As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources described his condition as critical.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from a heated argument between the two friends. Police officials suspect that an old rivalry or previous enmity may have contributed to the violent confrontation.
During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked Hadibandhu with a knife, inflicting serious injuries before fleeing the scene.
The accused is currently absconding, and police teams have launched efforts to trace and arrest him.
Authorities have registered a case and are examining all aspects of the incident, including the nature of the dispute and any prior conflicts between the individuals involved.
