The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, has reported that flood conditions have affected 12.87 lakh people across seven districts, with 4.49 lakh evacuated and accommodated in 812 shelters.
The latest Calamity Situation Report from the State Emergency Operation Centre indicates that the overall status is improving, though close monitoring continues in Baleshwar, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendujhar.
Floodwaters have impacted 75 blocks, 497 gram panchayats, and 1,671 villages, with 601,183 people currently affected. Relief teams have set up 185 free kitchens and distributed over 776 quintals of dry food and 1,293 polythene sheets.
A total of 179 response teams—including ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services, and Civil Defence—are deployed. 11,042 people have been rescued, and 7,213 shifted by boats, while 398 cut‑off villages have been reached.
Infrastructure damage includes 103 roads and bridges disrupted, 6,960 tubewells and 228 PWS schemes affected, and 73,495 electricity consumers impacted. Restoration work is underway.
In agriculture, 69,974 hectares of crop area, mainly paddy, have been affected. 528,307 poultry and 55,345 livestock are impacted, with 39 veterinary teams and 1,342 MT of cattle feed supplied.
Health teams have conducted 159 medical camps, treating 9,261 people, including 30 diarrheal and 19 snakebite cases. No human casualties have been reported so far.
The SRC noted that temporary connectivity and dewatering operations are ongoing in Kendujhar and Jajpur, and the left bank of the Baitarani River at Anandapur is under close watch for embankment slips.
