In the wake of Cyclone Montha’s impact across southern Odisha, the Odisha Fire & Emergency Services have launched a series of rapid-response operations to mitigate damage and restore public safety.
From tree-cutting in Gajapati and Koraput to rooftop clearance in Nandapur and dewatering in Puri and Bhubaneswar, fire personnel have been working round-the-clock to address cyclone-related disruptions.
Key interventions include:
- Mahendragada (Gajapati): Tree cutting near GP office by R. Udaygiri Fire Station.
- Rani Duduma Road (Koraput): Road clearance by Nandapur Fire Station.
- Berhampur Railway Station Road: Fallen trees removed to restore access.
- Bhandari Sahi (Koraput): Rooftop tree removal to prevent structural damage.
- Banka Sahi (Ganjam): Tree cutting by Chikiti Fire Station.
- Jagannath Balhaba (Puri): Dewatering operations to prevent urban flooding.
- Bhubaneswar: Eight strategic locations equipped with pumps, including Bomikhal Flyover and Haridaspur.
Despite intermittent rainfall, Bhubaneswar remains flood-free as of the latest reports. Citizens are urged to dial 112 for emergency assistance. The department’s motto—#WeServeToSave—continues to resonate as teams brave adverse conditions to protect lives and infrastructure.
