The Excise Department has registered 305 cases during its ongoing Special Enforcement Drive, which began on December 20. On the eighteenth day of the operation, contraband valued at Rs 1.26 crore was seized, and hemp plants worth ₹2.89 crore were destroyed as part of the enforcement efforts.
According to official data, 201 individuals were arrested during these operations, and 18 vehicles were seized in connection with the violations. The seizures included 13,202 bulk liters of illicitly distilled liquor and 432 bulk liters of duty-paid liquor.
Additional recoveries comprised 1,03,840 bulk liters of fermented wash and 6,050 kg of gur wash. Narcotics seized during the operations included 51 kg of ganja and 206 grams of brown sugar.
In addition, Excise units in Koraput and Nabarangapur registered two cases related to the illegal cultivation of hemp plants. One individual was arrested in Nabarangapur in connection with this illegal activity.
Officials stated that the enforcement drive will continue with a focus on dismantling illicit liquor production, narcotics networks, and illegal cultivation through coordinated, intelligence-led actions across the state.
