The Government of Odisha’s General Administration & Public Grievance Department has issued a notification outlining several important appointments and additional charges for senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, effective immediately, as the state enters the new year.
In a series of administrative adjustments, Satyabrata Sahu, IAS (RR-1991), Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, has been appointed as Member, Board of Revenue, Odisha, Cuttack.
Deoranjan Kumar Singh, IAS (RR-1993), Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, has been given additional charges including Member, Board of Revenue; Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha; Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority; and Chairman, Odisha Forest Development Corporation. He has also been appointed as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary to Government, Planning & Convergence Department. Singh is allowed to remain in additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
Hemant Sharma, IAS (RR-1995), Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Industries Department with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, MSME Department and Chairman, IPICOL, is allowed to remain in additional charge of Principal Secretary to Government, Energy Department.
Other notable changes include Smt. Shubha Sarma, IAS (RR-1999), Principal Secretary to Government, Women & Child Development Department, retaining additional charge of Principal Secretary to Government, Water Resources Department; and Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, IAS (RR-1999), Principal Secretary to Government, Excise Department, continuing with additional charges of CMD, OPTCL and Chairman, OSBC.
Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, IAS (RR-2005), Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Co-operation Department, retains additional charges of Chairman, Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) and Special Secretary to Government, Housing & Urban Development Department, while also continuing as Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, and Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority.
In district-level appointments, Madhumita Rath, IAS (SCS-2015), Additional Secretary to Government, School & Mass Education Department, has been appointed as Collector & District Magistrate, Nayagarh, under the provisions of Section 14(1) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
Similarly, Akshay Sunil Agrawal, IAS (RR-2019), Collector & District Magistrate, Nayagarh, has been appointed as Collector & District Magistrate, Gajapati.
