Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, calling the mission a “sacred covenant” to protect the nation and uphold the dignity of service.

In a message shared on social media, Singh Deo praised the courage, discipline, and sacrifice demonstrated by the armed forces during the military operation launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in 2025.

“A Sacred Covenant to Protect the Nation”

The Deputy Chief Minister said Operation Sindoor symbolised much more than a military mission and reflected the nation’s unwavering determination to stand against terrorism and adversity.

“As we commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, I offer a solemn salute to the indomitable courage, discipline, and sacrifice that defined this mission,” Singh Deo stated.

He further described the operation as a commitment to safeguarding citizens, preserving national honour, and strengthening India’s collective resolve.

Operation Sindoor Remembered as Symbol of Courage and Unity

According to Singh Deo, Operation Sindoor has evolved into a symbol of resilience, unity, and patriotism over the past year.

He emphasised that the operation demonstrated how true national strength lies in the spirit, dedication, and honour of the armed personnel serving the country.

The Deputy CM also said the anniversary serves as an opportunity to honour the legacy of the soldiers and renew the nation’s commitment to integrity, compassion, and devotion to the motherland.

Background: What Was Operation Sindoor?

Operation Sindoor was launched by Indian Armed Forces on May 7, 2025, following the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The operation involved coordinated precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The military action was widely seen as a major demonstration of India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and cross-border militant activities.

Nationwide Tributes Mark Anniversary of Military Operation

The first anniversary of Operation Sindoor has been marked across the country with tributes from political leaders, defence officials, and citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also honoured the armed forces and reiterated India’s commitment to combating terrorism.

The operation continues to be remembered as one of India’s most significant anti-terror military responses in recent years.
