Odisha Police Constable Anupama Swain has brought glory to the state and nation with her outstanding performance at the 9th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in Dubai, UAE, from May 23 to June 1, 2025.
Representing India, Swain clinched a silver medal in the Contact Jiu-Jitsu (under 48 kg) category and a bronze in the Fighting System (under 61 kg) category, showcasing exceptional skill and determination.
In a special ceremony at the Odisha Police Headquarters in Cuttack, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania felicitated Swain for her remarkable achievements. Praising her dedication, DGP Khurania presented her with a cash incentive and wished her a bright future in sports. “Anupama’s success is an inspiration for our force and the youth of Odisha,” he remarked.
The event was graced by senior officers, including Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Pratik K. Mohanty, Deputy Inspector General (Personnel) Jugal Kishore Kumar Banoth, and Assistant Inspector General (Headquarters) Suresh Chandra Naik.
Swain, currently serving with the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD), has a history of excelling in martial arts. Her medals at the championship in Dubai add to her tally of national and international accolades, making her a role model for aspiring athletes.
