Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to inaugurate a newly constructed 650-bed facility at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput on Sunday.
This expansion is set to significantly enhance healthcare infrastructure in southern Odisha and neighboring regions, including parts of Chhattisgarh.
The addition aims to address the longstanding shortage of hospital beds, which has previously forced patients to seek treatment in distant cities such as Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Visakhapatnam. With increased capacity, the hospital is expected to provide improved and advanced medical services locally.
Officials also anticipate that the expansion will facilitate the appointment of more medical professionals, thereby improving overall healthcare delivery in the region. Following the inauguration, CM Majhi will address a public gathering at Koraput Government College, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare in underserved areas.
