In a firm administrative move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered the suspension of two senior state officials involved in separate legal matters.
The suspensions affect Arun Kumar Biswal, Additional Secretary to the Commerce and Transport Department, and Sujit Kumar Roul, Senior Superintendent of Kataka Circle Jail. Both officers were previously arrested and placed in judicial custody.
According to government regulations, any public servant held in custody or detention for more than 48 hours is subject to immediate suspension. As both officers exceeded this limit, Chief Minister Majhi formally approved the suspension proposals forwarded by the respective departments.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed the decision today, signalling the administration’s adherence to service rules and strict oversight of official conduct. Further legal and departmental actions regarding the underlying cases involving both officers are expected to proceed accordingly.
