Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday for a courtesy call that turned into a wide‑ranging discussion on the state’s development priorities and internal security.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s progress under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continued guidance of the Home Minister, noting that the state is advancing rapidly on the path of development, progress, and prosperity.
Majhi briefed Shah on Odisha’s law‑and‑order situation, internal security, and ongoing welfare and development initiatives. He sought the Centre’s continued cooperation to further strengthen the state’s growth trajectory.
Expressing gratitude to the Home Minister, Majhi said Odisha’s recognition as a “Naxal‑free state” was possible due to strong central leadership and effective policing. He added that this success has created a conducive environment for socio‑economic development, with the state implementing the Gramoday Yojana to ensure full coverage of welfare schemes in former Naxal‑affected areas.
The Chief Minister also discussed rapid industrialisation over the past two years and sought support for industrial security to sustain momentum. He thanked the Centre for its assistance in reviving cooperative sugar mills and strengthening the cooperative sector.
Majhi emphasised that Odisha’s “double‑engine government” has earned public trust through direct citizen engagement and swift grievance redressal. He outlined key welfare and development measures undertaken by the state.
Home Minister Amit Shah praised Odisha’s governance and welfare initiatives, assuring full support from the Centre to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Odisha.
