Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, addressing the people of Odisha on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, paid tribute to the freedom fighters, lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their recent successes, and outlined the state’s roadmap for progress.

Speaking from the ceremonial dais, the Chief Minister recalled the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and countless martyrs who fought for India’s freedom. “Their courage is our eternal inspiration,” Majhi said, adding that the celebrations are an occasion not just to remember history, but to reaffirm commitment towards building a strong and self-reliant nation.

Majhi praised the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, conducted earlier this year, calling it “a testament to India’s unwavering resolve to protect its citizens and sovereignty.” He hailed the bravery of officers and soldiers who neutralised threats and ensured peace in sensitive regions. The Chief Minister also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in strengthening India’s defence and global standing.

Turning to Odisha’s development, Majhi highlighted ongoing projects in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment generation. He announced accelerated work on rural road networks, industrial hubs, and irrigation facilities. In the health sector, he noted that new medical colleges and advanced healthcare facilities are being established to make quality treatment accessible in all districts.

He further reiterated his government’s commitment to preserving Odisha’s cultural heritage, promoting tourism, and empowering youth and women through skill development programmes. “Our aim is to make Odisha a leader in both economic growth and cultural pride,” Majhi asserted.

The Chief Minister concluded his address with an appeal for unity, patriotism, and active participation in the state’s development journey. “The future of Odisha is bright if we work together with discipline, dedication, and love for our motherland,” he said, before hoisting the National Flag amid a ceremonial guard of honour.
