Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep concern and offered prayers for the swift recovery of Naveen Patnaik, the former Chief Minister and current opposition leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Majhi’s post on X, written in Odia, reads: “ବିରୋଧୀ ଦଳ ନେତା ଶ୍ରୀ @Naveen_Odisha  ଙ୍କ ଅସୁସ୍ଥତା ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ଚିନ୍ତିତ । Translated, it conveys his worry about Patnaik’s health, to undego treatment for cervical arthritis in Mumbai, and a prayer to Lord Jagannath for his speedy recovery and good health.

This act of goodwill comes less than a year after Majhi succeeded Patnaik as the 15th Chief Minister on June 12, 2024, following the BJP’s decisive victory in the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly elections. Patnaik, who served as Chief Minister for 24 years from March 2000 to June 2024, is the longest-serving leader in the state’s history.
