Odisha Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, IAS, chaired a high-level secretaries’ meeting at Kharavela Bhawan today to review the state’s financial performance, expenditure trajectory, employee social security, court order compliances, and the comprehensive development plan for Nayagarh district.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries of various departments.
Opening the proceedings, Chief Secy Garg highlighted key achievements recorded across multiple sectors during September and early October. She emphasized progress in tourism, industry, investment, environmental protection, women empowerment, skill development, employment, agriculture, and education.
Notable highlights included strong investment intent generated at the Odisha Travel Bazar, over ₹2 lakh crore in proposed investments during the UAE delegation visit, approval of 27 major industrial projects by the High-Level Clearance Authority, distribution of appointment letters to over 1,100 youth, and the disbursement of over ₹833 crore to 41 lakh farmers under the CM-KISAN scheme. She also praised departments for their coordinated response in managing heavy rainfall and flood-like situations caused by deep depressions in September.
A major highlight of the meeting was a presentation titled “Bikash Pathe Nayagada” (Nayagada on the Path of Development) by Nayagada Collector Madhusmita Rath, who joined virtually. Aligned with the vision of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047, she outlined a roadmap covering 25 key projects to transform the district across infrastructure, healthcare, education, tourism, and industry.
Key initiatives discussed for Nayagarh include:
- Connectivity & Infrastructure: Upgradation of the Khordha–Nayagarh National Highway, fast-tracking the Khordha–Bolangir railway line, construction of a helipad at Bhapur, expanded mobile and internet coverage, modern traffic management, and universal drinking water supply.
- Health, Education & Sports: Power grid substations at Daspalla and Khandapada, a Homeopathic Medical College in Nayagarh, a medical facility at Daspalla, and a modern hockey stadium at Ranpur.
- Tourism & Heritage: Transforming the Nilamadhab Temple into a world-class tourist destination, Mahanadi riverfront development at Kantilo, renovation of the Kuanria Park, and developing Kaliapalli village as a heritage tourism hub.
- Industry, Agriculture & Economy: Establishing a new sugar factory, a Railway Technology Park at Daspalla, agricultural cold storage units, a green gram (mung dal) processing unit, the major Vrtanga Irrigation Project, a modern Collectorate complex, circuit house, women’s skill development centers, and GP-level libraries.
Reviewing state finances, Chief Secretary Garg directed all departments to accelerate expenditure in alignment with budget allocations, boost revenue collection, and conduct regular internal reviews.
Additionally, the Law Department stressed the prompt and effective execution of Supreme Court and High Court orders to prevent unnecessary delays, avoid contempt cases, and fix accountability across departments.
