Odisha continues to experience intense rainfall and thunderstorms due to the impact of Nor’wester.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued yellow and orange alerts for multiple districts, cautioning residents about heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds reaching up to 60 kmph. Several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Gajapati, have been placed under an orange alert, while 14 other coastal and nearby districts fall under the yellow warning.
Meteorologists predict hailstorms along with thunderstorms, adding to concerns about potential disruptions. Day temperatures have dropped by 2-3°C, providing brief relief from heat, though they are expected to rise by 2-4°C in the coming days.
Officials urge residents to take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay informed about weather updates. The stormy conditions are expected to persist until May 7, with rainfall intensity reducing afterwards.
