Amid the ongoing floods in Nepal, several people from Odisha have been confirmed safe, with a football team from the state also achieving sporting success in Pokhara, according to the latest updates available on August 29, 2026.
Kulsum Nigar from Baripada and Deepika Ekka from Sundaragada have safely reached Raxaul and entered India.
Mr. Halim, coach of an Odisha football team, along with six other players, are safe in Pokhara. The team stood in first position in the football match held there.
Mr. Gunnam Jay Krishna from Baragada is also confirmed safe in Nepal. His location has been shared with the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate contact. However, his wife, Gunnam Sai Bindu Kumari, and their daughter, Gunnam Hareeksha, remain missing.
Authorities and families continue to seek information on the following missing persons from Odisha:
- Sandeep Mohapatra of Khordha district, who has been residing in Australia since 2018.
- Sidharthi Kumari Sahu, wife of Sandeep Mohapatra.
- Gunnam Sai Bindu Kumari.
- Gunnam Hareeksha (infant).
