India’s gross goods and services tax (GST) collections registered a strong 22.9% year-on-year growth in Oct 2026, reaching Rs 2,31,290 crore compared to Rs 1,88,125 crore recorded in Oct 2025.

Data released by the Ministry of Finance attributes the stellar performance to robust domestic consumer demand during the peak festive season and a substantial surge in import revenues.

Gross domestic GST revenue expanded by 15.8% to Rs 1,59,044 crore, while tax collections from imports jumped 42.2% to Rs 72,246 crore. A component-wise breakdown shows Central GST (CGST) at Rs 42,935 crore, State GST (SGST) at Rs 51,340 crore, and Integrated GST (IGST) totalling Rs 1,37,015 crore.

Cumulative gross collections for the April–October 2026 period reached Rs 14,77,569 crore, marking a steady 13.2% growth over the previous year.

Total refunds disbursed in October increased by 6.5% to Rs 27,934 crore. Factoring in these refunds, net GST collection for October 2026 surged 25.6% to touch Rs 2,03,356 crore, up from Rs 1,61,900 crore in the same period last year.

Cumulative net GST revenue for the first seven months of the fiscal year stood at Rs 12,69,486 crore, reflecting a 12.6% increase and underscoring sustained macroeconomic momentum across manufacturing and service sectors.
