Severe weather caused by Nor’wester (Kalbaisakhi) storms in Kolkata on Saturday forced the diversion of multiple flights.
Officials at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar confirmed that eight Kolkata-bound flights had to be diverted due to strong winds and heavy rainfall making landings unsafe.
Of the eight flights diverted, six were later cleared to return to Kolkata once weather conditions improved. Airport authorities ensured that the flights took off safely after a temporary halt.
However, two flights remained grounded at Bhubaneswar Airport as of the latest updates, leaving many passengers stranded.
The sudden diversions created significant commotion at Bhubaneswar Airport. Crowded terminals and long waits were reported, as passengers awaited further instructions. Airport staff and airlines worked together to manage the situation, providing regular updates and assistance to affected travelers.
