Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, formally entered politics by joining the Janata Dal (United) at the party headquarters in Patna.
His induction marks a significant moment in Bihar’s political landscape, as he had remained outside politics for decades.
The 50-year-old leader joined JD(U) on Sunday by taking party membership from Sanjay Jha, the party’s National Working President. His entry came just days after Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha, signalling a new chapter for the family in state politics.
Senior JD(U) leaders, including Central Minister Lalan Singh and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Chaudhary, attended the event. Several party workers also gathered at the headquarters to witness Nishant Kumar’s formal induction.
Nishant’s move strengthens JD(U)’s internal dynamics and adds continuity to the party’s leadership. His entry into politics reflects a generational shift and introduces another dimension to Bihar’s evolving political scene. Party insiders believe his presence will influence future strategies and reinforce JD(U)’s organisational base.
