A horrific incident shocked Balasore district when stray dogs mutilated a newborn baby in the Soro police station area.
The tragedy unfolded at Chittal panchayat under Bahanaga block.
According to reports, locals spotted a group of dogs feeding on the baby’s head and leg. Immediately, they alerted the Anantapur police outpost. Soon after, police reached the scene, recovered the remains, and buried them near a bamboo grove with the help of villagers.
However, the police action sparked controversy. Intellectuals and community members questioned why officers buried the remains without conducting a proper investigation. Consequently, the incident raised serious concerns about the handling of sensitive cases.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death remain unclear. Authorities suspect foul play, but no official confirmation has been made. Moreover, the lack of investigation has intensified public outrage and fueled demands for accountability.
