Boudh police arrested a reserve constable for allegedly carrying 10.7 kilograms of ganja during a major crackdown on drug trafficking.
The arrest took place at Barakuda Chhak under the jurisdiction of the Model Police Station on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Nidhi Sahoo, serving as a reserve constable at Balasingh. Police intercepted him while he was travelling from Chhatapur to Boudh. Officers recovered the contraband from his vehicle and seized his motorcycle.
Superintendent of Police Rahul Goel confirmed the arrest and emphasised that the operation formed part of Odisha DGP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Odisha’ initiative. He stated that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in drug offences, including police personnel.
Authorities forwarded Sahoo to court for further legal proceedings. Officials reiterated that the campaign against narcotics aims to eliminate drug trafficking networks and ensure accountability across all sections of society.
