Authorities introduced unprecedented security measures for the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam by isolating all question paper setters in a secure facility until June 21.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) enforced the lockdown after the cancellation of the May exam due to a paper leak that affected over 22 lakh candidates.

Reports confirmed that experts responsible for setting, moderating, and translating the paper surrendered mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches, and all communication devices. Internet access has been cut off, and movement inside the facility is monitored around the clock. Only authorised personnel can enter or exit.

Officials said the lockdown forms part of a larger security architecture. The examination process, including translation, moderation, printing, packaging, and transportation, has been compartmentalised to ensure no single individual controls the entire chain. Authorities are also considering Indian Air Force aircraft for the secure transport of exam materials.

Social media platforms have recently been flooded with false claims of leaked papers. The NTA dismissed these as baseless and warned students against scams. A surveillance team monitors online forums continuously to flag fake question papers and suspicious activity.

The NEET-UG 2026 re-exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode on June 21 from 2 PM to 5:15 PM across 551 cities. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan directed officials to address every vulnerability comprehensively. For millions of students, the re-exam represents not just another test but a crucial attempt to restore trust in the examination system.
