Odisha’s Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik called on citizens to remain alert and united in the face of Cyclone Montha, which is expected to impact coastal regions soon.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Patnaik said, “Do not be afraid of Cyclone Montha, stay alert. Like every time, we will face this cyclone together with strength.” His message emphasized calm, vigilance, and collective resilience as the state braces for heavy rainfall and possible disruptions.

#Odisha #CycloneMontha pic.twitter.com/7YEiFfxGMO

Cyclone Montha has intensified over the Bay of Bengal and is projected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai issued an orange alert for several districts, including parts of Odisha, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Patnaik’s statement comes amid widespread preparations across Odisha. The state government activated disaster response teams, stocked relief centers, and coordinated with district administrations to ensure readiness. Local authorities have urged residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to relocate to safer zones.

The opposition leader’s message resonated with many, reinforcing the importance of unity during natural disasters. His appeal also highlighted the need for proactive measures and community support to minimize damage and ensure safety.
