BJD president Naveen Patnaik today addressed thousands of supporters at a high-energy election rally in Komna block of Nuapada district.
Campaigning for party candidate Snehangini Chhuria, Patnaik accused the BJP government of failing to deliver on promises and misleading the public with false publicity.
He criticized the BJP for being “heroes in publicity, zero in performance,” claiming that development work across Odisha has stalled for the past 16 months. Patnaik listed several unfulfilled promises, including free electricity, increased pensions for older citizens, fertilizer supply for farmers, and cotton subsidies. He also highlighted rising crimes against women and deteriorating law and order.
Patnaik expressed concern over the state of Mission Shakti, stating that women have not received salaries or loans for eight months. He questioned the effectiveness of Ayushman Bharat compared to BSKY and labeled the current administration as a “name changer government” rather than a game changer.
During his speech, Patnaik paid tribute to former MLA Rajendra Dholakia and recalled Biju Patnaik’s role in shaping Nuapada district. He emphasized the BJD government’s achievements, such as the Biju Expressway, irrigation for over 10,000 hectares, clean drinking water, and tribal welfare initiatives in Sunabeda sanctuary.
He accused the BJP of “stealing votes to form the government” and now “stealing candidates,” asserting that betrayal against the people and the BJD has sparked public anger. Patnaik urged voters to respond to this “breach of trust” by voting for the conch symbol on November 11.
Senior BJD leaders including Prasanna Acharya, Manoj Mishra, MP Niranjan Bisi, and MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi also addressed the gathering, reinforcing support for Snehangini Chhuria.
