The autopsy report on the mortal remains of veteran actor Nana Patekar has confirmed that his death was caused by a fatal heart attack, a senior doctor at the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) stated on Sunday.
According to reports, the 75-year-old actor suffered an acute myocardial infarction triggered by a blood clot blocking his left main coronary artery—a condition linked to underlying atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease. Patekar passed away on Thursday morning at his residence in Goa despite receiving 45 minutes of intensive CPR from medical responders.
Following the autopsy, his son Malhar Patekar transported his mortal remains to Pune. The iconic actor was subsequently cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village.
The funeral was attended by prominent political figures and industry colleagues, including Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, actor Jackie Shroff, and NAAM Foundation co-founder Makarand Anaspure.
Honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013, Patekar leaves behind a monumental four-decade legacy across Hindi and Marathi cinema.
